Bengaluru : Prime Minister Narendra Modi said amidst a global lockdown, owing to the Covid pandemic, India’s tech industry has showed its resilience.

“The pandemic was a bend in the path, not the end. The amount of tech adaption that would not have happen in the decade, happened in just a few months,” he said at the Bengaluru Tech Summit.

At the peak of COVID-19 lockdown, it was technology that ensured India’s poor received quick and proper assistance, he said.

“The scale of this relief has few parallels. If India is successfully operating the world’s largest healthcare scheme, it is due to a big role of technology,” he added.

India as a country is uniquely positioned to leap ahead in the information era with the best minds and the biggest markets available with India, Modi said.

“Can we make a conscious effort to take our product level, innovation to the next level? A framework level mindset has the potential to build an ecosystem of multiple successful products,” he said.

Technology is setting the pace for defence sector to evolved, Modi said.

“Earlier wars was determined by who had better elephants and horses. Then came the era of firepower. Now, technology is playing a very important role in global conflicts. From software to drones to UAVs, technology is redefining the defence sector,” he said.

India’s Fintech industry is doing very well and millions of people are doing transactions without any fear because of people’s trust, which is to be preserved and made stronger, Modi said.

“A sound data governance framework is also our priority,” he said.

India has a clear advantage when it comes to innovation because of the talent of the Indian youth and their zeal to innovate, Modi said.

“The potential of our youth and possibilities of technology are endless. It is time we give our best and leverage them,” he said.

Mod said the number of Internet connections in India has recently crossed 750 million milestone and half of that number have joined in the last four years only.

“As per a report, the number of Internet connections, recently crossed 750 million milestone. Do you know that over half of this number joined in the last four years only,” he said.

India’s governance model is ‘Technology First, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Indian government is providing support to India’s vibrant startup community, whose skill and success are now world-famous, he said.

Modi said ‘work from anywhere’ has become the norm and is going to stay.

“We’ll see a high amount of tech adaption in education, health, shopping and more,” he added.

Modi said achievements of the Industrial era are in the rearview and India is now in the middle of the Information era.

“Future is coming sooner than anticipated. We should quickly set the bygone era’s thinking aside. In the Information era, the first mover doesn’t matter, the best mover does. Anyone can make a product anytime that disrupts all existing equations of the market,” he said.

In the Industrial era, boundaries mattered, but the Information era is all about going beyond boundaries, he added.

Modi said the central government has used the power of data analytics to ensure better service delivery and efficiency.

Using technology on such a large scale has brought about several life-changes for the citizens, he said.

“The benefits are for everyone to see. Our government has successfully created a market for digital and tech solutions but it has made technology a key part of all schemes,” he added.

Modi said it is because of technology that his government is able to help the poor build their homes at an unprecedented scale, speed and transparency.

“Today, when we’re able to provide electricity to almost all households, technology has played a key role,” he said.

“When it comes to technology, the way ahead lies in learning and growing together. Inspired by that approach, a number of incubation centres are opening in India,” he added.

Bengaluru: At the times when “work from home” or “work from anywhere” has become the new normal in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has rolled out a new initiative “Beyond Bengaluru” focussed towards building innovation and a technology ecosystem beyond the city of Bengaluru.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr.C.N.Ashwatha Narayana, also the minister of Electronics, IT, BT, and S&T who inaugurated “Beyond Bengaluru” initiative as part of “Bengaluru Tech Summit 2020” (Nov 19-21) on Thursday, said this measure was aimed at enhancing the growth of IT /ITeS, Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO), Electronic System Design Manufacturing (ESDM), and Telecom sector industries located at the upcoming cities of Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubbali-Dharwad and Shivamogga.

There were efforts to develop the required ecosystem in cities like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Shivamogga earlier itself. But, that was not realised to the full potential due to many reasons. But, now the time is very conducive to go “Beyond Bengaluru” in the backdrop of reverse migration which has happened because of the pandemic and the government has resolved connectivity issues in tier 2 and tier 3 cities by working with telecom companies, he explained.

Work in rural areas: Health Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar appeals to young doctors

0

Mysuru, November 11, 2020: Doctors should be willing to serve in rural areas as 70% of the population resides in Rural India says Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar. He was speaking in 11th convocation ceremony of JSS Higher education and research academy here in Mysuru on Wednesday.

Government has made it mandatory for the post graduate medical students to serve in rural areas after completion of their studies. 2500 medicos will be completing their graduation this year. Doctors should be responsible enough to serve in rural areas on humanitarian grounds.

Some doctors have appealed in the court against this policy. They should withdraw their appeal and serve voluntarily in rural areas. You are free to study abroad but, return back to mother land and serve here after the completion of studies. The Minister advised the medical grads.

There is one doctor for every 11-12 thousand people in the state. A bed is available for every thousand people. As per the WHO standards, there should be a doctor for every thousand people and 2.7 beds per thousand population. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government has given approval to establish 150 medical colleges in last 6 years. Additional 17,000 seats have been added to post graduate courses. Health sector has been strengthened by all these measures. Explained Dr.Sudhakar.

Pandemic has been managed well in India. Global Mortality rate due to Covid is at 3.8%, but it is 1.4% in the country and 1.3% in the state. Earlier we have 19% positivity rate in some districts, but it is reduced to 2.2% now. Said the Minister.

JSS Institution has been the pride of Karnataka and has brought laurels to the state at global arena. JSS should grow on the lines of ancient Indian Universities like Nalanda and Takshashila. The war against Covid is still on. JSS has provided 1,800 bedded hospital and staff for this purpose and actively participated in this fight. Praised Dr.Sudhakar.

Sutturu seer Shri Shri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji was present during the event.

Other Points made by the Minister:

• We are committed to provide quality health care at affordable prises. Around 1.5 Crore families in the state are benefitted from Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme.

• 60% of the people in our country are incurring out-of-the-pocket expenditure on health care. We have free health care services but quality needs to be improved.

• New medical colleges will come up in Chikkaballapur, Haveri and Yadgir

Congress is disconnected from ground reality:

Congress is disconneted from ground reality and its leaders doesn’t understand have their ears to the ground. That’s the reason they have failed miserably. I had told earlier that Muniratna is going to win RR Nagar with more than 50 thousand votes. Same thing happened. BJP takes up every single election as a challenge. That’s the reason we have won both seats in bypolls and all 4 MLC seats, which has further strengthened the party. Said Dr.Sudhakar.
